Welcome to Once Again Images, where I offer for sale high quality prints from the original negatives and photographs in my collection.

   I'm Barry Cash, and have been a collector for much of my life. After nearly 40 years in the commercial printing industry it was time for a change. I got a licence to be a secondhand dealer and opened an antiques and collectables shop in Wellington, New Zealand, where I live. The shop had a specialized line in "Photographica" and was open for 9 years before the power of the internet made business difficult. Now I work from home.

   I am passionate about early New Zealand photography, especially the work of amateur photographers, which is rarely seen outside of their direct family. As amateurs their images were usually taken with cheaper cameras, and have issues with focus, composition, and camera shake. But every now and then I come across a shot where everything comes together to capture the moment. While some of the amateur images on this site have the previously mentioned issues, I believe they deserve a place in New Zealand's photographic history.

   I started Once Again Images to show, and offer for sale, the work of amateur and professional photographers, known and unknown, whose negatives form part of my collection. These images are shown under "Barry Cash Collection", most are unique to this site and not available from any other source. These black & white images are printed using one black, and two gray inks, the result is a print of photographic quality.

   I also offer for sale prints from New Zealand's early photographers like Burton Bros, Coxhead, Wrigglesworth, and others, from my collection of original vintage photographs; these are shown under "Heritage Collection". Some of these images are available from museums and other sources, but mine have been cleaned beyond what these institutions offer, with dust, scratches, and most of the age damage removed. Each photographers work has also been given a consistency of colour, while maintaining the look of the original; this allows the images to be displayed well together. These colour images are printed using eight colours, this gives a print of exceptional photographic quality.

   Titles shown on prints are mine, unless the photographer has provided one. Every effort has been made to name the photographer for each image, this has not always been possible, and while some can be "attributed to"; I have preferred to leave them as "Unknown". There is also a "Mystery Photo" page, there if you can identify the location for me you receive a free A4 print of the image.

   Also offered for sale are original vintage New Zealand photographs, carte-de-visite, cabinet cards, 19th and 20th century tourist souvenir booklets, photographic books with a high content of historical photographs, and old family snapshot albums.

   On the site there is an article by William Main, author of many books on the history of New Zealand photography, entitled "Vintage New Zealand Photography-A collecting guide". I have also added a brief history of each photographer on the site under "Photographer Biographies". Another new page is "Bits n Pieces" where I'm listing miscellaneous items that don’t belong on my other pages, or are not of New Zealand origin. These can be accessed from the Home Page menu.

Why buy from me and what do you get?
The prints I offer for sale are ink-jet reproductions from the original photograph, or negative, produced using professional equipment, and have excellent archival properties, (Makers testing = 150+ years.). They are of photographic quality, and printed on Premium Semigloss 251gsm photo paper. Each image has been selected and cleaned by me, with most dust, spots, scratches, and age damage removed. Each photographers work in the "Heritage Collection" has been given a consistency of colour, while maintaining the look of the original, so when mounted, or framed, prints can be displayed well together.
   Prints are suitable for framing, mounting in albums, or just as they are. They also make great gifts to friends, family, or something different to give to an overseas visitor. So too do the original photographs, books, and early souvenir booklets I offer for sale.
Approximate sizes: 180x245mm* on A4, 255x345mm* on A3, Title and photographer details are printed on border. (*Image size can vary depending on original size.)

A4 prints are $21.50, A3 $31.50, 5x7 $7.50, 4x6 $4.50, postage is extra.
Postage in NZ is $3.00 for up to 5 A4 prints. $8.00 for up to 5 A3. $2.50 for 10 5x7 or 4x6.
Overseas postage will be quoted separately, and payment to be made by PayPal.
Order more than 5 prints of the same size and postage in New Zealand is free.
Books, souvenir booklets, and original photographs are priced separately.

While I take care to only offer items in good condition, most books, and all the souvenir booklets are secondhand, and some of the original photographs are over 130 years old so their condition can vary. Buyers are encouraged to ask questions to satisfy themselves as to the condition of any item before purchase. The photo displayed on the site is of the actual item ‘as is'.

All photographs on the Once Again Images site are copyright, and are not to be used without my permission. Prints supplied by me are not to be further copied.
Images are available for use for publication, advertising, and any other use with permission. There will be a charge incurred for any such use.

I can restore and supply prints from your photographs or negatives. This work is quoted separately, and has my money-back guarantee if not satisfied.

Wanted to buy.
Please do not throw away photographs, negatives, or albums, as I will make an offer, or accept them as a donation. If they do not get a home from me I will find them one!
